Following Georgia’s recent parliamentary elections, Azerbaijani-registered NGOs and local media outlets reportedly received instructions from the Presidential Administration on how to frame their commentary. The guidance emphasized that voters had chosen peace, development, and national values over Western-backed conflict, highlighted the significant role of Azerbaijani voters (allegedly contributing 7–8% of the ruling party’s votes), and portrayed the results as a setback for Western influence in the region. It also stressed expectations that the Georgian government should pay more attention to Azerbaijani-populated areas and reinforced support for Azerbaijan’s regional policies and closer Azerbaijani-Georgian ties.
Monitoring by Mikroskop Media found that several Azerbaijani state and pro-government media outlets—including Respublika, AzerTAc, Sharg, Report, and Trend—closely echoed or directly repeated the language of the instructions in their coverage, often through interviews and commentaries. Multiple NGOs similarly shared social media posts reflecting or reproducing the directives verbatim, underscoring themes such as opposition to Western interference, fears of regional division, and the decisive role of Azerbaijani voters in securing the Georgian Dream party’s victory.
